Christine Gilbert
In 2008, I quit my Fortune 500 management job, started a blog and set out to travel the world. I’m currently traveling with my husband, infant son, and enough photography and film gear to choke a horse. Since launching almostfearless.com I’ve been very lucky to be featured or mentioned in publications like the LA Times, Huffington Post, National Geographic’s Traveler, Travel Channel’s World Hum and many other places. I make a modest living via my website, mostly through ebook sales and it’s enough to cover my family’s travel and living expenses. I love helping people, and this partnership with Matt represents an extension of that instinct. In my previous life, I’ve worked as a professional consultant, helping businesses leverage their IT solutions. Now, I want to tell you how I did it: creating a website from the ground up, using social media and building a community that supports my work and lifestyle.

Matthew Kepnes
In late 2005, I traveled to Thailand. There I met long term travelers who opened me up to backpacking. I was hooked. I came home, quit my job, and set out traveling the world in July 2006. In April 2008, in hopes of becoming a travel writer, I started my own travel website as sort of an online resume. Over the next 6 months, I began writing for online websites. After awhile, more and more traffic became to my site and advertisers began knocking on my door. Pretty soon, people were coming to the website for information. I’d become an online journalist without ever intending to do so. By April 2009, I was earning enough to support myself in Asia. By the end of the year, I was earning enough to support myself anywhere. My website has grown into one of the leading travel sites on the internet. I’ve been featured in the New York Times, Wisebread, Yahoo!, Lonely Planet, The Guardian UK, Marie Claire, and countless other publications. My website, along with a few others I run, provide me with a very comfortable full time income. I’m an expert in SEO, social media marketing, and monetization strategies.
